Dr. Youngdrung Woser
Dr. Youngdrung Woser is a Tibetan medical practitioner and educator deeply rooted in the Yungdrung Bön tradition. Born in Upper Dolpo, Nepal, he began his spiritual journey at the age of five when he was ordained as a novice Ngagpa (Tantric practitioner) at Samling Monastery. In 2008, he received full ordination as a Bön monk at Menri Monastery, Dholanji, India, where he later studied the basic philosophies of the Bön tradition at the Bön Dialectic College from 2011 to 2014. His unique path has since woven together the spiritual and medical aspects of Tibetan culture, emphasizing healing through both wisdom and compassion.
He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Traditional Tibetan Sowa Rigpa Medicine at the Medical College of Sorig Bumzhi Menriling in Dholanji, India in 2019, where he also trained in traditional Tibetan medicine, basic astrology, Tibetan grammar, and poetry. His internship under Menpa Passang Thopchen at a Tibetan Medicine and Chinese Acupuncture Clinic in Pune, India, further honed his clinical and acupuncture skills.
Currently, Dr. Youngdrung Woser serves as the Tibetan Menpa Medical Director at the Sorigtsang Wellness Centre in Solan, India, offering traditional Tibetan medicine and acupuncture to the Himalayan community and mentoring student interns. He is also a Professor and Governing Board Member at his alma mater, the Medical College of Sorig Bumzhi Menriling, where he plays a vital role in training future practitioners. His previous roles include Medical Person-in-Charge at Menri Monastery during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he led public health initiatives under the Central Tibetan Administration, and earlier administrative and community service positions supporting Tibetan education and welfare.
Dr. Youngdrung Woser has presented at numerous national and international conferences, including the International Conference on Tibetan Medicine and the Health Review Meeting of the Central Tibetan Administration. His educational outreach continues through public talks on health awareness, such as his presentations for World Hepatitis Day and Sowa Rigpa Day. Through his dedicated service, Dr. Youngdrung Woser bridges ancient Tibetan healing traditions with the needs of modern society, fostering wellbeing grounded in the compassionate wisdom of the Bön lineage.
