  • "A OM HUNG
  • At the moment when the impermanent illusory body dissolves
  • Surrounded by loved ones and relatives and material possessions

  • May I achieve the great liberation."
  • — from the Bardo Prayer by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche
  • About the Teaching

    Choekhorstsang-Rinpocse

According to Tibetan spiritual traditions, living and dying are part of a sacred continuum. The more we cling to our possessions, our loved ones, and our sense of self, the more we suffer. By loosening attachment, we find greater joy in each moment of life and peace at the time of death.

In the Bön tradition, the Bardo—the intermediate state between death and rebirth—offers a profound opportunity for realization. Yet, without understanding or guidance, it can also be disorienting or fearful. Recognizing the nature of mind—our pure, luminous awareness—is the key to liberation from the cycle of rebirth.

After death, Bön rituals continue to support the consciousness through its journey in the Bardo, with ceremonies performed over 49 days to guide the deceased through dissolution, visions, and karmic unfoldings.

Ultimately, these teachings remind us that death is not an end, but a sacred door to awakening. With proper preparation and awareness, dying itself becomes a path to realization.
