About the teaching
For a dedicated practitioner on the spiritual path, nearly any moment of transition provides a potent opportunity for positive transformation, and never more so than at the moment of death.
Join us at Choekhortshang Rinpoche’s teachings to engage in the Phowa practice of the Bön tradition, which prepares one to transfer one's consciousness directly into a pure realm at the time of death.
In these teachings, students learn how to accept death as a natural and expected process; how to adopt the right attitude in preparation for death; and how to perform the Phowa practice at the time of death. The Phowa training prepares the practitioner to transfer consciousness through the crown of the head at the time of death. This transfer of consciousness increases one’s chances for liberation in a single lifetime.
At this occasion, Choekhortshang Rinpoche will continue to teach from the A-tri cycle. A Tri Dzogchen is one of the main cycles of Dzogchen Teachings within the Bön Tradition.
Choekhortshang Rinpoche started with the A-tri preliminary practices in 2018, then continued with the Zhiné practice from the same cycle in 2019. After some break, this is the third part in this series. Choekhortshang Rinpoche will give us transmission (lung) to the Phowa practice, and he offered to give transmission to the previous practices for those who did not participate the earlier A-tri teachings. Thus, this teaching is open for everyone, there are no prerequisites to participate.
About Choekhortshang Rinpoche
Geshe Choekhortshang Rinpoche is a Lama of the Bon tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. He was born in Dolpo, a high mountain region of north-western Nepal bordering Tibet, in 1976, to an important local family. He is the head lama of Tashi Namgyal monastery in Dolpo.
